Gene Schmitt began with Murray Risk Management and
Insurance as a Risk Control Consultant in 2003. Prior to Murray, he worked as a Safety and Environmental Coordinator for Dana Corporation.

Gene earned an Associate of Arts degree in Fire Science
Technology from Harrisburg Area Community College and a
Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Hygiene Management from Millersville University.

He received the Certified Safety Professional certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). He earned the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification and the Property and Casualty Insurance License. He is an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 500 Trainer for Construction, a Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Qualified Accident and Illness Prevention Service Provider. Gene is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Fire Officer, and American Red Cross Instructor.

Gene is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and is active with Junior Achievement. He is also a volunteer firefighter and serves as the Safety Officer for
Susquehanna Fire and Rescue Company.
